Qualifying Time/Entry Limits
There are no qualifying times or entry limits for the Sotokoto Marathon.

Can I get a refund or transfer to another year?
Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

How do I receive my Race Pack?
The Race Pack will contain the official Sotokoto Marathon t-shirt and your designated race number. Race Packet Pick Up takes place at
Sotokoto Marathon Secretariat, Auto Village, 1st Floor. Each runner must pick up their own race packet. To facilitate pickup, please bring a valid ID. Participants must pick up their own race packs. No one will be able to pick up a race pack for a friend or family member.

Can I carry food and water?
Yes. There will also be water stations located along the course serving water and providing professional medical assistance.

Can I Skate The Course?

All participants must self-propel themselves without assistance. No assistance conveyances and unauthorized vehicles including bicycles, baby carriages, all forms of skates, support walkers, walking sticks, poles and canes, etc. will be allowed on the course on race day.

Pets

No pets of any kind are allowed, including but not limited to dogs and horses.

Can my friend run with me?
Those not officially entered and not wearing a race number are not allowed on the course

Marathon Medals

The Sotokoto Marathon finishers medals are for finishers only and must be picked up on Race Day. Look for the Finisher Tent after you exit the finish area and pick up your t-shirt and medal because finisher shirts and medals will not be mailed.

Prize Money

Sotokoto Marathon Awards will be presented as follows;

21KM RACE

Awards will be presented to the first 5 men and first 5 women.

  • 1st place: Ksh.100,000

  • 2nd place: Ksh.70,000

  • 3rd place: Ksh.50,000

  • 4th place : Ksh.30,000

  • 5th place: Ksh. 20,000

10KM RACE

Awards will be presented to the first 5 men and first 5 women.

  • 1st place: Ksh.30,000

  • 2nd place: Ksh.20,000

  • 3rd place: Ksh.15,000

  • 4th Place: Ksh. 10,000

  • 5th Place : Ksh. 5,000

MASTERS 21KM RACE

Awards will be presented to the first 5 men and first 5 women.

  • 1st place: Ksh.15,000

  • 2nd place: Ksh.10,000

  • 3rd place: Ksh.5,000

  • 4th place: Ksh. 3,000

  • 5th place: Ksh.2,000

SPECIAL OLYMPICS 10KM RACE

5KM KIDS FUN RUN

Awards will be presented to the first 5 boys and first 5 girls.

8 – 13 Years (Boys & Girls)

  • 1st place: Ksh.5,000

  • 2nd place: Ksh.3,000

  • 3rd place: Ksh.2,000

  • 4th place: Ksh.1,000

  • 5th place: Ksh.500

The first 10 finishers (1st to 10th place) will get a Rohto t-shirt.

14 – 17 Years (Boys & Girls)

  • 1st place: Ksh.5,000

  • 2nd place: Ksh.3,000

  • 3rd place: Ksh.2,000

  • 4th place: Ksh.1,000

Getting There

Public Transport

You can take PSV no.131 from Nairobi Town and alight at Nderi along Waiyaki Way. Fare estimate: Ksh. 100

There is no direct public transit to KALRO from Nderi. You are advised to take a boda boda at Nderi, which will drop you at the marathon venue at KALRO Muguga. Fare estimate: Ksh. 50

Alternative Route

Take a matatu from Karen Town to Kikuyu Town. Fare estimate: Ksh. 80

Thereafter, take a matatu from Kikuyu Town to Nderi. Fare estimate: Ksh. 50

There is no direct public transit to KALRO from Nderi. You are advised to take a boda boda at Nderi, which will drop you at the marathon venue at KALRO Muguga. Fare estimate: Ksh. 50
